FACTORY FARMS & THE SUPERFUND LAW

Manure from factory farms poses serious risks to public health and the environment. Many communities are struggling to protect their quality of life from these facilities, which put drinking water and air quality in danger. Therefore, factory farms should be regulated through the Superfund law, which is designed to protect the public from hazardous waste, and to hold companies accountable for pollution.

Unfortunately, an amendment to Energy Bill H.R. 6 (currently in the Senate) would exempt manure from the Superfund law. This exemption would be damaging to efforts to fight factory farms because Superfund is one of the few ways that communities can obtain information and prosecution of factory farms.

TAKE ACTION! - mail your Senator today and tell them to oppose any attempt to put factory farms above the law by exempting manure.
